Jackson Merrill Had Two Homers, Xander Bogaerts Singled in the Go-Ahead Run in a Three-Run 10th Inning

The San Diego Padres came from behind to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday night, improving to 57-45 on the season. Jackson Merrill had two homers for the Padres, including a solo shot in the 10th inning that tied the game. Xander Bogaerts singled in the go-ahead run later in the inning.

The Pirates took an early lead on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana in the first inning. Nick Gonzales drilled a triple and a homer for the Pirates.

The Padres tied the game in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by Merrill. The Pirates regained the lead in the seventh inning on a two-run homer by Liover Peguero.

The Padres will go for the sweep of the Pirates on Thursday afternoon. MacKenzie Gore will start for the Padres, while JT Brubaker will start for the Pirates.
