A total of 90 riders have embarked on their 273km journey. Among them is defending world champion Mathieu van der Poel of the Netherlands, who also won the silver medal in the men's road race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The riders will be competing in the men's 3000m steeplechase at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The official competition schedule and live results for the event can be found on the website of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF).
Avinash Sable of India has also made history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the men's 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris Olympics.
