Last Updated: 1:51 PM, May 10, 2024
The Tallahassee area is under tornado warnings as severe storms with rotating winds roar across the Big Bend. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties until 2:30 PM.
Storms containing radar-confirmed tornadoes, strong winds, and hail are moving through the area. Residents are urged to take shelter immediately if they are in the path of the storm.
Earlier this morning, a tornado touched down in Panama City, causing widespread damage. The storm downed trees and power lines, and damaged several buildings. A possible tornado also tore through Tallahassee, downing trees and street signs.
The storms are expected to continue for several more hours. Residents should stay tuned to local weather forecasts for updates.
